Lpn SOP Examples
1. Medication Administration SOP: The purpose of this SOP is to ensure safe and accurate administration of medications to patients. It includes guidelines for verifying medication orders, preparing and administering medications, documenting administration, and monitoring for any adverse reactions. The scope of this SOP applies to all LPNs working in healthcare settings. The person responsible for this SOP is the LPN, under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). This SOP references the Medication Order Verification SOP and Medication Documentation SOP.
2. Infection Control SOP: The purpose of this SOP is to prevent the spread of infections within healthcare facilities. It includes guidelines for hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, proper disposal of contaminated materials, and cleaning and disinfection procedures. The scope of this SOP applies to all healthcare personnel, including LPNs. The person responsible for this SOP is the infection control nurse or designated infection control officer. This SOP references the Hand Hygiene SOP, PPE Usage SOP, and Cleaning and Disinfection SOP.
3. Patient Assessment SOP: The purpose of this SOP is to ensure comprehensive and accurate assessment of patients’ physical, psychological, and social well-being. 4. Wound Care SOP: The purpose of this SOP is to provide standardized guidelines for the assessment and management of wounds. 5. Emergency Response SOP: The purpose of this SOP is to outline the steps to be taken in emergency situations to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and healthcare personnel. It includes guidelines for initiating emergency codes, performing basic life support (BLS), and coordinating with other healthcare professionals. The scope of this SOP applies to all healthcare personnel, including LPNs. The person responsible for this SOP is the LPN, under the supervision of an RN or designated emergency response team leader. 6. Documentation and Charting SOP: The purpose of this SOP is to ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities. The scope of this SOP applies to all LPNs involved in patient education. The person responsible for this SOP is the LPN, under the supervision of an RN or nurse educator.
